Maryland Bah Rates 2021 – Average 2.9 percent increase in Basic Allowance Housing (BAH) 2021 rates. This is an average increase across all regions. Actual rates will continue to be determined by each area based upon the current rental housing market survey.
BAH Basic Housing Allowance Rates
The 2021 BAH increase became effective on January 1, 2021. Service members will be informed of the increase in pay on January 15, 2021. The actual BAH increases differ by location.
BAH covers 95% of housing expenses while service members pay the rest out of pocket. The amounts for out-of-pocket expenses included in the 2021 BAH rates vary by grade and dependency status and vary from $70 to $158 monthly.
2022 BAH Basic Allowance for Housing Rates
The proposed 2022 Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) rate increase is 2.7 percent. This is an average across all regions, and the actual rates will continue to be set by the individual area based on the current rental market survey process.
Final BAH rate increase rates will be subject to change based on the passage or rejection of the 2022 Defense Budget.
The 2022 BAH increase will take effect 1 January 2022. Service members will be informed of the rise in their wages on January 15 2022. BAH increases will vary based on the location.
